The Role

As an IT Support Specialist you will collaborate with Block employees to quickly resolve any technical issue that interrupts their day. We are looking for a customer-focused, creative and quick thinker who understands that while you may not always know the answer to a question, you know how to find it. We are predominantly Mac OS, with growing Windows, Chrome OS and Linux environments. The position is onsite at our beautiful Oakland, CA, office where you will be the face of IT supporting users in person at our dedicated IT Bar as well as working tickets. You Will

  • Answer questions and provide support for Block employees in person at the office, online (via email, Slack, and tickets) 
  • Work with various departments and the IT Support team to be the point person at the Block office to perform important tasks such as troubleshooting network connectivity, testing Audio/Visual equipment, and managing inventory
  • Perform project based work to improve IT and Block systems 
  • Help train and coach other IT employees
  • Document solutions in our knowledge base
  • Showcase your knowledge by training other employees on new applications, hardware, and more!

You Have

  • End-user support experience for MacOS or Windows in a customer facing environment.
  • Great problem solving and intuitive troubleshooting skills
  • A drive to assist users and solve their technical problems. 
  • A strong understanding of connecting computers to networks especially over wifi and VPN
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs computer equipment and hardware, climb ladders and use hand tools where necessary
  • Ability to work some weekend days and holidays in a rotation with other team members
  • 1-2 years work experience in a technical support or service desk environment 

Bonus 

  • Previous work experience providing support in an enterprise environment
  • Cloud contact center support experience, especially with Amazon Connect
  • Experience with MDM systems
  • Experience troubleshooting Chrome OS
  • Hold admin level certifications for Google Workspace, Okta and Slack
  • Experience working on an ITIL-based support team.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices. 
  • Command-line Unix/Linux experience (Shell scripting)
  • You’ve used Atlassian products before, especially JIRA

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
