Bitkey Named on TIME’s Best Inventions of 2024 List in “Privacy & Security”
We are excited to share that our bitcoin wallet, Bitkey, has been named to TIME’s prestigious Best Inventions of 2024 in the category of Privacy & Security (see full TIME article here). Every year, for over two decades, TIME editors have highlighted the most impactful new products and ideas in TIME’s Best Inventions issue. Being selected for this honor places Bitkey among a select group of groundbreaking products that are setting the tone for the future and making the world better, smarter, and more inclusive.
Bitkey was created to widen access to self-custody and to empower people around the world to truly manage their bitcoin easily and safely. It was designed around the idea that simplicity is the best security, meaning no long passwords that are difficult to manage and easy to lose, a simple onboarding process, and a product that just works. It provides the convenience of a mobile app, the security of a hardware device, and a set of recovery tools to give customers multiple ways to recover their money.
To compile this year’s list, TIME solicited nominations from TIME editors and correspondents around the world, paying special attention to growing fields — such as health care, AI, and green energy. TIME then evaluated each contender on a number of key factors, including originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact.
