On November 7, 2022, Block partnered with The Human Right Foundation (HRF) to host Currency of Freedom.
The event featured conversations with humanitarians, activists, and leaders from around the world discussing bitcoin as a tool for economic access. Topics of discussion ranged from bitcoin’s practicality in a humanitarian crisis or under authoritarian rule to its potential use as a route to financial freedom and social change.
Event speakers included:
- Garry Kasparov, Russia Author, chess champion, Chairman of the Human Rights Foundation
- Yeonmi Park, North Korea Author and human rights activist
- Leonid Volkov, Russia Chief of Staff for Alexey Navalny, Political Director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation
- Farida Nabourema, Togo Writer, social activist, Executive Director of the Togolese Civil League
- Leopoldo López, Venezuela: Political leader, pro-democracy activist, founder of the Voluntad Popular Party
