Law Enforcement Engagement & Government Requests

This page provides guidelines and procedures for law enforcement officers, government agencies, and attorneys requesting user information, records, training or investigative support from Block, Inc. (formerly Square, Inc.) and its subsidiaries, including Square Capital, LLC, Square Financial Services, Inc., Afterpay US Services, LLC, and Cash App Investing.

Requests for User Information

In accordance with our Privacy Notice and Terms of Service, non-public information is not released except as lawfully required by appropriate legal process such as a valid subpoena, search warrant, court order, or other valid legal process. Upon receipt of appropriate legal process, we will search for and disclose data and information that is specified and which we are reasonably able to locate and retrieve. We are unable to process overly broad or vague requests. Please include as much specific information as possible that would identify the relevant Square accounts and transactions.

Law Enforcement Response Team

Block’s Law Enforcement Response Team processes all legal requests for customer information, including subpoenas, preservation requests, court orders, search warrants, or other legal process received. The team can be reached for questions at lawenforcement@squareup.com.

Please use our request form above to assist with the production of timely responses. Submissions sent to our office by mail will not be accepted. If you need to serve documents by mail, please use our Registered Agent contact information below.

Please note that acceptance of legal process by any of these means is for convenience and does not waive any objections, including, but not limited to, lack of jurisdiction or proper service.

Currently, the minimum response time is 60 days from receipt of valid legal process. Emergency requests may be expedited upon demonstration of imminent threat to life or safety.

Block's central intelligence function identifies, analyzes, and mitigates financial crime threats to customers. The team is composed of a Special Investigations Unit and Intelligence Analysis Unit, and serves as the key partner for law enforcement case inquiries, support, training and engagement.
