Proto is accelerating the world's transition to an open economy with products that increase access and independence for everyone. We're building Bitkey, a simple and safe self-custody bitcoin wallet that will put customers in control, as well as hardware and software that will help decentralize bitcoin mining and enable new and innovative use cases for bitcoin mining. We're developing these products in the open - you can read more about them at bitkey.build and mining.build. Within Proto, our Bitcoin Products team delivers the product and go-to-market strategy, software, firmware, and custom silicon needed to make Bitkey and our ambitious mining initiatives a reality. Come build the future of money with us!

The Role

As a Global Supply Manager ASIC Tech Lead on the Hardware Procurement team, you will contribute to Block's custom silicon and ASIC supply chain strategy across our mining and hardware portfolio. You will be a technical and strategic leader for managing foundry relationships and OSAT partnerships, driving supplier qualification, capacity planning, yield optimization, and high-volume production ramps.

This role requires deep semiconductor manufacturing expertise, with hands-on experience bringing up OSATs for high-volume ASIC production and working cross-functionally with ASIC design teams to ensure seamless design-to-manufacturing transitions. You will manage complex supplier business relationships including wafer pricing negotiations, advanced packaging strategies, capacity allocation, risk assessment, and supply assurance in a highly dynamic and constrained semiconductor market.

You will serve as the technical authority on ASIC supply chain matters, presenting regularly to internal leadership (VP/C-level) and external partners (foundry executives, OSAT leadership) to drive strategic alignment and resolve critical supply chain challenges. This senior level individual contributor role reports to the Silicon global supply chain management Leader.

Qualifications

  • Own foundry and/or OSAT relationships: Manage strategic partnerships with leading foundries and OSATs to secure capacity, optimize costs, and ensure supply continuity for Block's ASIC roadmap.
  • Have detailed understanding and experience managing directly upstream and capex needs like testers, substrates, lead frames etc.
  • Drive OSAT bring-up and qualification: Lead technical qualification and production ramp of new OSAT partners for advanced packaging and high-volume assembly/test operations
  • Cross-functional ASIC collaboration: Partner closely within HW Procurement, Silicon GSMs, Trade Compliance, ASIC design, silicon engineering, and product teams to translate design requirements into manufacturable supply chain solutions, including DFM optimization, package selection, and test strategy
  • Strategic sourcing and capacity planning: Develop multi-year sourcing strategies, secure wafer allocations, negotiate capacity commitments, and manage supply-demand planning across foundry nodes and OSAT capacity
  • Yield and throughput optimization: Work with suppliers to drive yield improvements, reduce cycle times, and resolve production issues impacting cost, quality, or delivery
  • Executive communication: Present supply chain strategies, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to Block's leadership team and external supplier executives; serve as the technical voice for ASIC supply chain
  • Cost management: Lead complex pricing negotiations for wafers, packaging, and test services; drive cost reductions through process optimization, volume leverage, and supplier benchmarking
  • Risk management: Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks (geopolitical, capacity constraints, technology transitions, single-source dependencies) with data-driven strategies
  • Manage global supply chain disruptions in real time
  • Travel ~15% internationally and domestically

You have:

Required (Must-Have):

  • 12+ years of experience in semiconductor supply chain management with deep focus and existing knowledge on ASIC, foundry, and OSAT operations
  • Extensive foundry experience: Proven track record managing relationships and capacity at leading foundries across multiple technology nodes
  • Deep OSAT expertise: Hands-on experience qualifying and ramping OSATs for high-volume production, including advanced packaging technologies (flip-chip, wire bond, 2.5D/3D, etc.)
  • ASIC design collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with ASIC design teams, translating design requirements into supply chain execution and driving DFM/DFT alignment
  • High-volume production ramp experience: Successfully brought up OSATs and scaled production from NPI through high-volume manufacturing
  • Executive presence and communication: Exceptional ability to present complex technical and supply chain topics to internal leadership (VP/C-level) and external partners (foundry/OSAT executives); comfortable representing Block in high-stakes negotiations and strategic discussions
  • Strategic sourcing expertise: Proven ability to develop and execute multi-year sourcing strategies, negotiate complex commercial terms, and manage supplier relationships at the executive level
  • Semiconductor manufacturing depth: Strong understanding of wafer fabrication, packaging, assembly, test, and yield management processes

Preferred (Nice-to-Have):

  • Standard silicon experience: Exposure to standard IC companies, PCBs, memory, or other non-ASIC silicon supply chains
  • Advanced packaging knowledge: Experience with emerging packaging technologies (chiplet, HBM, advanced substrates, etc.)
