Last month, Block’s Financial Crimes and Policy Partnerships teams attended the Crimes Against Children Conference (CACC), an industry-leading conference where attendees receive training on some of the most important issues currently facing those involved in the investigation, prosecution, and healing of crimes against children. More than 5,500 law enforcement officers, social workers, corporate stakeholders, and nonprofit professionals convened to share best practices for keeping kids safe online and offline across the globe.
Cash App was a sponsor of the event, which included hosting a welcome reception for 100 law enforcement attendees to learn more about Block and build upon the external relationships that Block has established with the law enforcement community. Strong relationships are critical to combating child sexual exploitation and have been an area of focus and investment for the company as part of a multifaceted strategy that includes leveraging external partnerships and support for events like the CACC to increase expertise and gain insight on trends as they evolve over time.
Members of Block’s Financial Crimes leadership team, including investigators from our Special Investigations Unit, received specialized training through the conference sessions that will increase their expertise and aid in their investigations as part of our financial crimes compliance program.
“We take our responsibility to protect children on our platforms extremely seriously, and recognize that training and investing in our employees to build the expertise and understand these trends is imperative to identifying and preventing this activity on our platform,” said Alek Dvoskin, Financial Crimes Intelligence Lead for Cash App. “With trust being our top priority, we’re diligently focused on safeguarding children and investing in those protection efforts.”
Since its founding in 1988, the Crimes Against Children Conference, hosted by the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, has been a premiere gathering for professionals involved in the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of crimes against children. CACC continues to see record attendance each year and provides a variety of workshops and case studies that address issues faced by its attendees in their work.
