As a provider of financial services, we are oftentimes on the front lines for combating and stopping the illicit activity of bad actors. That’s why we take our responsibility seriously to prevent and report illicit activity. With image-based sexual abuse on the rise across the globe, now more than ever companies like ours must play our part to help curb sextortion and other forms of image-based sexual abuse.

We’re proud to join the White House’s Call to Action to Combat Image-Based Sexual Abuse, which is committing to fighting against both non-consensual intimate images (NCII) of adults and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Here’s what we’re doing at Block:

  • At Cash App and Square we are curbing payment services for companies producing, soliciting, or publishing image-based sexual abuse, including through additional investments in resources, systems, and partnerships to detect and mitigate payments for illicit activity.
  • Cash App and Square are committing to deepening and expanding our partnerships with industry groups and initiatives, like the Tech Coalition and Lantern, that support signal sharing to detect sextortion and other forms of known image-based sexual abuse to help detection and limit payment services.
