The Role

Bitcoin Platform consists of security, trading, custody engineering, operations, and product partnerships. It operates a proprietary stack for both cold and hot wallets to enable users to send, receive, and custody, as well as a trading engine that provides liquidity for users.

 

The Head of Operations, Bitcoin Platform, will operate the bitcoin platform business on a day-to-day basis ensuring faster and more efficient operations including critical functions: liquidity, trading, partnerships and cold storage. This role reports to the General Manager, Bitcoin Platform

 

You Will

  • Partner with a variety of cross functional partners, such as product, engineering, legal and compliance to set strategy and drive execution
  • Oversee security, controls, policies whilst monitoring capabilities to ensure platform adheres to applicable laws and regulations
  • Take ownership of complex issues within and beyond organizational boundaries; act as escalation point for senior leadership concerns
  • Develop strategy for emerging products by analyzing business opportunities, identifying competitive dynamics, and synthesizing product performance data.
  • Create a culture of excellence with a highly engaged organization, maximizing team performance and setting up opportunities for career development and growth
  • Build and leverage data analytics and reporting to support strategic decisions and execution

You Have

  • 15+ years of experience in a financial services/technology company including 10+ years of prior team development and people management experience. You will work with a distributed team based mainly in North America and Australia
  • 10+ years experience in leading operations in a financial services business including managing financial performance of trading & asset custody
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in the quarterly/annual audit process and supporting reporting/exams with US regulatory agencies
  • Strong compliance and governance experience with experience in oversight of mission critical systems, BC/DR and proactively risk monitoring
  • Proven experience in navigating operational and legal complexities across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with varying regional regulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling sophisticated financial services platforms, including order management systems.
  • Strong relationship management skills with external partners and experience in negotiating commercial agreements, including effective vendor management, to enhance service quality, (QBRs, SLAs,) and achieve strategic goals.
  • Experience in designing and implementing policies and procedures that align with industry-specific regulatory requirements, enhancing governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to develop consensus and drive stakeholders to a decision with all organizational levels including leaders and technical teams.
  • Deep analytical skills that can drive the development of reporting, tools and other business processes to smooth operations and enable analysis of nascent industry movements
  • Experience with developing a rapidly scaling business and related operation
  • Knowledge of Bitcoin and familiarity with broader blockchain technologies is a plus.
