The Role

At Block, we're building a world-class Procurement organization that enables our business to scale efficiently while maintaining the agility that drives our innovation. As the Global Head of Procurement Enablement and Operations, you'll shape how we deliver value across Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Operations, Payables, and Supplier Risk, leading a dynamic team of 25+ professionals worldwide. We're looking for a leader who can combine strategic vision with practical execution, someone who understands that great procurement enables business growth while managing risk effectively. You'll have the opportunity to shape how Block approaches procurement at scale, building capabilities that support our mission of economic empowerment.

You Will

  • Drive Block's strategic procurement vision by developing data-informed strategies that evolve our capabilities across data management, supplier risk, accounts payable, and operational sourcing
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that enhance delivery through our people, processes, tools, and policies
  • Champion procurement innovation by researching industry best practices and fostering knowledge sharing across internal and external networks
  • Implement modern procurement technologies and processes that balance operational speed with effective risk management
  • Create and execute a comprehensive supplier risk and reporting program that adapts to our evolving business needs
  • Prioritize and define a clear roadmap of improvement and transformation initiatives, accelerating adoption and change-management through collaborative program management, stakeholder engagement, clear communications and training.
  • Accelerate procurement modernization through strategic data-driven decision-making while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure procurement excellence by managing internal/external audits and maintaining compliance standards
  • Optimize the end-to-end procure-to-pay lifecycle through iterative improvements to policies, tools, and processes
  • Design and implement efficient contracting solutions that create value for both Block teams and our supplier partners

You Have

  • 15+ years of strategic procurement in financial services/FinTech regulated environment
  • 10+ years in a leadership management position, which includes direct people management experience and leading leaders of others in a large global organization
  • A proven track record of working closely with internal audit and external regulators
  • Deep knowledge of supplier risk frameworks and operational/tactical sourcing
  • Expertise across the procurement technology ecosystem with an emphasis on leveraging technology to automate manual processes
  • Ability to project manage, demonstrate project status, key actions, risks and opportunities 
  • Ability to navigate in unstructured environments while garnering trust with internal customers
  • Experience proactively resolving performance issues with assigned suppliers to ensure resolution 
  • Experience leveraging technology and financial systems to extract and analyze data 
  • MBA/Advanced technical degree is preferred

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
