The Square Associate Product Manager (APM) Program is a full-time role designed for early-career product managers. During your first year at Square, you’ll participate in a structured 12-month rotational experience, completing two six-month rotations across different product teams. Throughout the program, you’ll work on meaningful, high-impact problems across Square’s ecosystem while building the skills needed to grow as a product leader.

Upon completion, APMs transition into a long-term product role aligned with their strengths, interests, and Square’s business needs.

We’re looking for early-career builders who are curious about product, passionate about solving real customer problems, and excited about Square’s mission of economic empowerment. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of work experience in a related field, or a degree in business, data/analytics, computer science, or engineering paired with an internship in a related area. Being “AI-native” and comfortable with modern tools is a strong plus. While a technical or design background is helpful, what matters most is your problem-solving ability, product thinking, and drive to learn.

No. The APM Program is a full-time role. APMs are embedded on real product teams from day one, and deep engagement is essential for learning, delivering meaningful work, and growing quickly across rotations.

We look for strong product potential, curiosity, and the ability to think clearly about customer problems. After an initial application review, selected candidates complete a take-home AI-focused product challenge. Those who advance will participate in virtual interviews focused on product sense, analytical thinking, and collaboration. A panel of PMs and product leaders evaluates each candidate holistically — considering potential, communication, creativity, and alignment with Square’s mission.

Yes. APMs are full-time Block employees with salary, equity, and benefits.

The APM Program is remote-first and U.S.-only. APMs must reside in the United States for the duration of the program. The cohort will come together periodically for orientation, offsites, or team events, with travel covered by Square for official program activities. APMs who live near Square offices are welcome to cowork or participate in local team events.

Applicants must meet local employment guidelines for full-time roles. In general, applicants must be at least 18 years old to join the program.

Yes. APMs receive the hardware and software they need to be successful — including a laptop and the tools used by Square’s product teams.

APMs work on real product teams solving real customer problems. Each six-month rotation places you in a new product area — for example, payments, commerce tools, risk & identity lifecycle, seller experiences, fintech infrastructure, or emerging AI initiatives. You’ll contribute to discovery, product strategy, execution, and launches. The work spans everything from improving existing experiences to exploring entirely new product ideas.

This is a full-time Product Manager role from day one. The first 12 months are structured as a rotational APM program designed to accelerate learning and impact. There is no separate “conversion” step at the end of the program.

At this time, the APM Program does not offer visa sponsorship. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States for the full duration of the program.

Yes. The APM Program is currently U.S.-only, and applicants must reside in the United States and have valid work authorization independent of Square.

Cohort 1 will include approximately 4–6 APMs. We intentionally keep the program small to ensure personalized mentorship, strong community, and a high-quality learning experience. Future cohorts may expand based on the success of the inaugural class.
