We're proud to share that Block has joined the Tech Coalition, a global alliance of technology companies working together to protect children from online sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA).
This commitment reflects a deepening of work already underway across Block and our brands, including Cash App and Square. By joining the Tech Coalition, we’re strengthening our role in industry-wide efforts to address online harms through collaboration, transparency, and innovation.
What is the Tech Coalition
The Tech Coalition was established to unite leading tech companies in the fight against OCSEA. Members including Google, Meta, Amazon, Apple, TikTok, Snap, and others work together to develop safer products, share threat intelligence, and support research that drives real-world impact. The Tech Coalition also publishes regular Transparency Reports that detail progress made across member organizations.
Block is already a member of Lantern, The Tech Coalition’s first child safety cross-platform signal sharing program that helps tech companies securely share information about accounts and activity related to OCSEA. Before Lantern, there was no consistent way to collaborate, making it easier for offenders to evade detection across platforms. By closing that gap, Lantern helps companies detect threats faster, respond more effectively, and strengthen reporting to law enforcement.
As a member of the Tech Coalition, Block is committing to:
What Comes Next
Joining the Tech Coalition marks a meaningful step in our broader commitment to safety across all of Block’s platforms. While there’s no single solution to complex online harms, we believe that by working together, we can drive progress that matters.
We’re here for the long haul—continually improving, investing, learning, and collaborating to help build a digital future where all customers can participate with confidence.
